THB? - what happened to the Women's Harmony Brigade?
The WHB was created and Founded by Jennifer Newman, to include women in a subsection of the barbershop world that was not available to us, but we have come to realize that there is more we can do to ensure that all singers have a space in which to brigade. With that in mind, the Board has decided to open our events to all who are interested and able to sing arrangements in treble voiced ranges. To solidify this change, we are rebranding the organization the Treble Harmony Brigade, which we believe better represents the organization we want to be.

What does "treble" really mean?

Treble voice ranges are those sung by soprano & alto voice types in traditional choral music. The arrangements that will be sung at THB events are voiced for ranges typically heard at Sweet Adeline & Harmony Incorporated events.

How do I know if I can sing in the treble range?
If you haven't sung in a treble ensemble previously, we recommend checking out YouTube videos of SAI & HI quartets like Lustre, The Buzz , Martini, Epic, Hot Pursuit, or Livewire and try singing along. If you are able to easily sing along in the same octave as these great singers, you will likely find success singing in the treble range.
Do I have to be in a registered quartet to participate in the Brigade?

No, but you do have to have prior quartet singing experience. If you've ever sung in quartet formation and been successful at holding your own on your part, you are welcome to participate. More important than loads of formal quartet experience is your commitment to learning & memorizing your music so that others are able to enjoy singing with you!
Do I have to be affiliated with an official barbershop organization to participate?

Nope! The THB is an independent association of treble barbershop singers. While many of us are members of Sweet Adelines, Barbershop Harmony Society, & or Harmony Incorporated, it is not a requirement for participation in the THB.
What do I get for my registration fee?
The registration fee gives you sheet music & learning tracks to challenging arrangements, dinner Friday night, breakfast lunch and dinner Saturday, and breakfast Sunday morning, and an opportunity to sing in more quartet combinations than you can fathom!
Can my quartet sing the Brigade music after the weekend?

Recent changes have resulted in quartets needing to purchase copies of the THB music for their group independently of the music received through the Brigade. Most of the charts sung at THB events are purchased through Sweet Adelines International, SMP and/or the Barbershop Harmony Society for a very reasonable fee.
Is the THB a charitable organization?
We are registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(7) non-profit Social Club. While we are a non-profit club, we are not considered a charitable organization. Registrations or donations made to the THB are not tax deductible.
The THB is a registered corporation with the State of Maryland.
Where will the event be held?
Our events change locations every year or two. Our 2025 Brigade will be held in Atlanta Ga. on August 8-10. More details to come!
So who's running this shin-dig?
The Treble Harmony Brigade is an independent Barbershop organization that grew out of an experience founder Jennifer Newman had participating in the men's Atlantic Harmony Brigade in 2010. The guys encouraged Jennifer to consider starting a brigade for the ladies and in 2013 planning for the first event began.
The THB is a volunteer-led organization run by a Board of Directors/Event Planning Team. We will be forever indebited to our organizational leaders for generously volunteering their time.
